When I log into the site there aren't any stations showing. I have changed the mode and band and still nothing. When I spot myself my station appears. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Thx, Lee, KC4IGO

No, it's just that usage levels are very low at the moment.

A lot of operators who live in cold regions, like me, are not very active in the warm months.

I will be on the air much more once New England winter sets in.

Many others will probably do the same.

That may be part of the explanation, but I'm skeptical about the likely throughput levels of RTQM at any time. I think it has the potential to be a very valuable service, but only for a really rather small and relatively inactive slice of the ham population. So much activity has transitioned to FTx and I really don't see the relevance of RTQM to these modes. All FTx operation is on a single frequency - tune to the band and you will see everyone that is on-air. The WSJT-X software highlights stations that you need in your quest for awards. RTQM really does not bring anything to the party for such operators.

Where RTQM comes into its own is as a dating service for those of us with more unusual, perhaps more traditional, objectives. If you like ragchewing or operating in obscure, rare modes, then planting yourself on a frequency and calling CQ can be a very depressing prospect - you can call for hours and get no takers. I'm hoping that, the next time I have time to spend on-air, I'll be able to log into RTQM, select a frequency in the middle of 40 or 20 and post up a session along the lines of "G8FXC looking for a ragchew about astronomy - can speak both English and Spanish" - and get a call!

I agree that it's irrelevant for those looking for FT8/4 contacts. It's aimed at those looking for other modes and not finding them.

It could be especially useful for those seeking unusual digital modes such as Feldhell or Olivia, and for those seeking a ragchew on CW or SSB.

My point was that you can't really judge its long -term appeal by its lack of popularity over a short time period.

Im on, when the US is Awake n Asleep. It is very rare to find anyone on.
At last count I've logged in 26 different time frames and not another sole.
And when there is, they're on 20m which is Not in my license Band Plan.
But... I will keep trying for my 1ST QSO "Capture" via this mode.
